About
Evidence-Based Therapy and the Individualised Caregiver Education approach.
Delivering client-based, individualised, evidence based services is one of the core values of Better Interact Speech Pathology. Evidence-based service helps ensure that therapists are using the most up-to-date and effective treatments.
We also place a strong emphasis on collaborative working with other professional and continuing professional development.
Better outcomes can be achieved when parents feel that they are not alone, are empowered and can share valuable experiences. Parents are a child’s first language teacher. Your child learns to speak by modelling what you say and how you say it. So your child is very used to using you as a ‘teacher’.
Research studies have shown that when parents play an essential role in their child’s intervention – as opposed to being passive observers – children make considerably more progress towards their speech and language therapy goals.
Parents know their child best, their prefered way of learning, struggles and personality.
Parents have the advantage of spending the biggest amount of time with their child. Considering children learn to communicate during everyday activities, no one is better positioned to do that than their family. Learning should happen all day, and is best achieved in natural environment of the child, which is their home.
